Puma continues to stretch boundaries with their latest collaboration with renowned urban artist Frank Kozik. Known for his Smoking Bunny character as seen on many vinyl toys and collectables, the two partner up to bring us the Frank Kozik x Puma Suede “Smoking Bunny” Pack .

Following projects with Undefeated, Alexander McQueen, and atmos, Puma presents a trio of colorways that feature suede side paneling and perforated leather toeboxes with that artists’ name, “Kozik”, embroidered on the side. As each shoe comes complete with a Smoking Bunny hangtag and graphic print shoe bag, this release will only be exclusive to stores in Argentina. Frank Kozik will be in Buenos Aires this week to commemorate the launch, however, we’ll keep you updated if and when we see a release stateside.

Minutes after covering a collaboration between Alexander McQueen and Puma, the latter is already being mentioned alongside another well-known fashion player. Undefeated once again lends a hand to the Puma design team; and, the result is the Microdot Collection that is pictured here. The collection includes both a grey and black suede Puma Clyde with white “microdots” spread out all over the upper. Moreover, two similarly colored pairs of the high-top Puma RS complete this pack- however, the dots on these are only seen along the ankle collar. This collection will begin to be made available for purchase from select retailers such as certain FootAction locations starting November 10th.

Any causal observer during last month’s New York Fashion Week would notice the seductive association between metallic studs and footwears, especially favored among the prim and thin beauties that attended the runway shows. But if you’re not quite ready for a pair of 6-inch stilettos or a near-mummification by a dress from the late Alexander McQueen doesn’t suit you, then Nike might have an alternative, the Nike WMNS Blazer Mid PRM MTR. No chunky sole, no blood inducing upper, just supple soft upper on a semi-articulate outsole. A metallic silver Swoosh streaks across the middle. Still, the WMNS Blazer Mid PRM MTR have some bite to them, in the forms on mini studs along the ankle. Rounded? Yes. Small? Maybe. Then again, the best of things sometime comes in small package. There is a particular significance to this collection, because, this is the last Alexander McQueen x PUMA collaboration McQueen actually laid his hands on, before he had unfortunately left the fashion world weeping and passed on earlier this year. With his collaboration with PUMA, the design has always been sleek with a dark twist, as of many other McQueen’s very own eponymous designs and diffusion labels. One common running theme through out the PUMA AMQ collection is an idee fixe with biology. Look on the bottom of the shoes and it is not difficult to find a skeletal patterned sole, and sometimes, like in the Fall/Winter 2010 collection of sneakers, we see patterns reminiscent of cells, sometimes animal, sometimes cellulose. Regardless, McQueen’s design always win in the details, be it an overarching stripe that stretches across the forefoot and onto the midsoles, a metal lace trinket, or twisted and sliced leather panels that reveal another layer of color underneath while creating shape of the signature PUMA running stripe. Check out the collection, and if you are a McQueen fan, this is the last chance to cope something of his without having to hunt on eBay.

Urbanites today may not have to trek miles on end just to get from one place to another, but it doesn’t mean they travel and roam the concrete jungle with any less baggage. To facilitate mobility and ease of commuting through the city, Puma’s Urban Mobility collection aims to fuse technology, function and fashion into one single collection that will serve urban wanderers well. Since Puma is no stranger to high-fashion collaborations (having worked with Alexander McQueen and Sergio Rossi), the Urban Mobility collection is directed by none other than Puma’s very own Creative Director, Hussein Chalayan who has been at the helm since 2008.

Chalayan is one of those designer with a fearless, experimental vision and does not compromise on luxurious sophistication. The St. Martin’s College of Art and Design graduate pushes fashion boundaries with innovative cuts and materials (his breakout show was a graduate collection consisting of decomposed silk dresses he buried and later exhumed for the show).

For his Urban Mobility Spring/Summer Collection, one of the fresh sneaker models that had been garnering a lot of attention is Chalayan’s re-imagined chukkah-inspired Motus sneaker. The Motus sneaker is crafted from intriguing inverted leather upper and extremely unadorned, championing a minimal, deconstructed look reminiscent of Scandinavian and Japanese design. Unlike other Puma sneaker one might be used to, the iconic racing stripe along the side is printed on as opposed to sewn on, giving the shoes a sleeker, flat, 2D look. Sitting atop white rubber soles, these vaporous grey sneakers look almost surgically clean and debunk the preconceptions of chukka being outdoorsy and rugged.

Even though two rivaling brothers founded PUMA and adidas respectively, the sportswear giant labels do share the same impeccable taste for pitch perfect collaborations. Adidas has been winning crowds over with the Originals by Originals line, enlisting the help of some of the most creative minds in the industry such as Jeremy Scott, Kazuki Kuraishi and James Bond of UNDFTD; meanwhile, PUMA has executed some of the most coveted line-ups with luxurious flair with Sergio Rossi and Alexander McQueen.

PUMA perpetuates its good taste in collaborators this season by teaming up with fashion label LOT78 and graphic designer Sadia Rafique. For the unfamiliar, LOT78 was relaunched in 2008 and is designed and run by Ollie Amhurst. Amhurst’s portfolio extends to 10 years with Giorgio Armani and his label expands on the concept of contemporary luxury with a series of tailored leather and jersey pieces that are individualistic and timeless.

Meanwhile, Sadia Rafique is a veteran of Central Saint Martins and has worked in both mens and womenswear design. She has worked with labels such as Levi’s, Lee Jeans, Evisu and retailer oki-ni. Aside from fashion labels, Sadia has been working with PUMA AG under the direction of Hussein Chalayan since 2008 and is well-versed in PUMA’s sleek contemporary sportswear aesthetics.

The collaboration with LOT78 and Sadia works on the First Round high top and are crafted from leather and suede in a sophisticated black and white colorway. The heel and collar runs touches of spring happy pink with graphic elements that have a deep painterly touch in free but meticulous ink sketches.

These collaborative First Round Hi-Tops come in a limited run of 400 and will be available around the globe starting March 27. Check out the kicks and do stay tuned for the release if you are feeling a little artistic in your steps.

When Savile Row meets a degenerate artist with a slightly morbid obsession for death, body, the found, the marked and the illusionist, the resulting sartorial consummation came in the form of Alexander McQueen’s Spring/Summer 2010 collection. Paint splatters irregularly but with seeming thoughtful deliberation and planned chaos on shrunken suits. Stains, painterly details and intentional defacement marked the collection of classic pieces reworked with a large dose of courage, mischief and subversion to Savile Row tradition.

The latest footwear from McQueen follows in tune with the same silent deranged artist rage. Simple brown dress shoes are attached with rains of paint splatters, toes are worn and burnished and soles are intentionally stained. One of the easier to wear footwear styles from this season is the Paint Stain Shoe. A simple low-top sneaker is crafted from a mix of navy leather and blue suede, with a non-chalant, solvenly stained soles. The shoes are also lined in leather with McQueen’s signature skull print. An interesting exploration of luxury dressing and street, but hit with a dose of artistic renegade paroxysm, the shoes is a subtle statement piece that rebels quietly against your classics.
