The Nike Air Trainer 1 is one of the Nike training shoes making a huge splash this year. That’s due to the fact that many pairs have been designed specifically for athletes such as Chien-Ming Wang, Larry Fitzgerald, and Troy Polamalu. This time around, Nike has chosen to honor the athlete of the decade, Tiger Woods, with his own pair as well- with a brown colored theme. Pictured here is this Nike Air Trainer 1 designed specifically for Tiger Woods, which will not be releasing to the general public. In the middle of June we brought you a look at a pair of the Nike Air Max 1 Premium designed in part as an effort to commemorate the accomplishments of the Taiwanese MLB pitcher Chien-Ming Wang. Nike decided to do the same thing again, except this time using the Nike Air Trainer 1- which was also recently used to celebrate another MLB pitcher in Yu Darvish. Wang’s Nike Air Trainer 1 comes in a New York Yankees blue/white/silver colorway and dons the team’s pinstripes. Nike x Chien-Ming Wang (???) – Air Trainer 1 Signature Edition

Though he’s been on the DL for most of the 2009 season, New York Yankees pitcher Chien-Ming Wang was still all smile at a recent press conference in Taipei City, Taiwan. With his injury and subsequent surgery aside, 2009 was a very good year for Wang - the birth of his son Justin early in the year and Yankees’ record breaking 28th World Series Title. Wang received another “good” news just as the year comes to a close, his own Signature Edition of the Air Trainer from Nike celebrating his achievements on and off the field. In New York Yankees white, grey and blue pinstripes, the heel panel feature an imprint of “Wang” in Chinese character, written in the form of Chinese calligraphy. (An interesting note that his last name could also be translated as “King” in Chinese.) Along with the preview of the special edition, the pitcher also thanked his fans’ continue support and vow to be back on the mound in 2010.

Nike has been releasing the Nike Air Trainer 1 model exclusively to athletes for many years now, and it still hasn’t stopped. With another World Series title under their belt, as well as, a special Nike Air Trainer 1, the New York Yankees wouldn’t have done it without some key players. Besides A-Rod and Jeter, Nike gave props and a player exclusive Nike Air Trainer 1 to the Taiwanese-born pitcher Chien-Ming Wang. Wang’s PE takes influence from the Yankees design, with the team colors and pinstripe ankle, where his name is stitched in his native character. A multi-colored lace panel also makes this a colorful shoe. Perhaps these will make a general release, but for now, let’s just enjoy the view.
