Let your imagination flow for a minute and picture yourself in the ring with Manny Pacquiao during the fight Saturday evening. Aside from his familiar robe and boxing trunks, both in his signature Philippines national colors, you will also notice a pair of conspicuous footwear. In Philippines national colors as well and designed exclusively for Pacquiao by Nike, the Fight Night Boxing Shoes area series of intricate stitch works and detailed construction. Composed mainly from breathable and lightweight mesh, key portions reinforced with white patent leather overlays, additional Flywire systems were added to further responsiveness without the weight. Decorative tassels, the fighter’s embroidered name and Nike’s Manny Pacquiao icon accentuate the aspects around the heel. Meanwhile, a single row of Rhinestones emphasizes the tongue. However, don’t let these elements obscure the functional aspects of the shoes, such as the natural rubber outsole and omni-directional treads for quick stance changeovers. Manny Pacquiao will always have this under his belt– the first man to knock out England’s Ricky Hatton. Tonight, as Manny Pacquiao fights Miguel Cotto for the five-weight World Champion at the WBO World Welterweight Boxing Championships in Las Vegas.

On this note, as we had previously reported on the Nike Trainer 1 “Lights Out” Edition colorway that commemorated the pride of the Philippines, now a new Philippines colorway is available for those who didn’t get a chance to get their hands on the previous kicks. Still working on the same silhouette, the Nike Trainer 1 (inspired by the Air Trainer 1 but with superior multidimensional traction and mobility) is remade in red, white and blue, the colors of its national flag. The upper also features the graphics of a star and the tongue tags are based off the ones previously seen on the Lights Out colorway. Sold out on NikeStore online, the kicks are still  available at selected Nike retailers, so those who are looking to grab these kicks can do a little digging.

Here we look at the all new Lights Out version of Nike Manny Pacquiao Trainer 1 that packs a heavy blow to any enthusiast. Not only have they come up with the glow in the dark Trainer 1 but with it is a matching “Pacman Knows” tee with glow in the dark technology too. The Lights Out is a play on words with the glow in the dark technology as well as the performance he delivered during the May victory over Ricky Hatton.

As for the design of the shoes, it features contrast stitching and shoe laces over black upper in mesh and leather. Interestingly the tongue tag is asymetric with left side being white with gold details while the right side is glod with white details and both proudly have MP embroidered in red and blue to reflect the Philippines flag. The shoes are packaged in black box with intricate design and wrapped in gold foil printed paper. The first version of the Nike Trainer, as limited as it is, caused a stir among sneaker collectors, and it now fetches a pretty penny on ebay. This version is sure to be as coveted, as the stark black, gray, white, and glow in the dark green combination is striking enough in the light, but the glow in the dark stitching, midsole, swoosh, and laces take this shoe to an amazing technical level. These will only be released next Friday, September 25th at the Nike store in Fort Bonifacio, Philippines, and customers are only allowed one pair. “Lights out” in the title is an obvious double meaning of glowing in the dark, and knocking out Hatton on 5/2/9–a time revealed with a glowing sole on the heel (as well as the time of the knockout in the second round). The embroidered eagle on the heel and the “MT” insignia on the tongue complete the Manny Pacquiao  theme.
