POW! Fashion designer and curator, Pierre Hardy, is definitely on one with his latest creation. Releasing are the Pierre Hardy ‘POWORAMA’ Limited Edition Sneakers which pay tribute to legendary pop artist Roy Lichtenstein and the 1960′s Pop Art movement.

The sneaker will feature a fun, comic-like aesthetic, and include a very detailed white leather upper with the use of primary colors and large perforations on the side panels and toe box. The “POW” on the ankle strap only adds more life and feeling to the silhouette. Nice!

Limited to 500 pairs worldwide, these exclusive kicks will be available December 2011 at select Pierre Hardy retailers and boutiques.

Pierre Hardy may have started out as a ladies’ man (not in the sense fraternizing sense, but in a design supply sense) by making the iconic sexy peep-toe stilettos, but when it comes to designing for men, Hardy is more about art. For seasons now, the French designer has been designing limited edition sneakers for men, and each time around, he draws inspiration from either an artist or a type of work. This season, Hardy took artistic cues from graffiti art and turned his signature hi-top canvas into wearable art with a life of its own.

French footwear designer Pierre Hardy may have made his name in the footwear industry with the ladies’ all-time favorite open toe stiletto peep-toe shoes, but his foray into mens footwear has proven successful with solid collections of sneakers and classic menswear silhouettes that often draw inspiration from the art world. After last year’s colorful Nubuckorama sneaker inspired by Gilbert and Georges, this season marks a similar return to simplicity where kicks are either kept in monochrome or pops with simple color trimmings.

Other than a previously previewed pair of black and white hi-cut sneakers, the rest of the collection proves to operate upon the same principles where depth is created through contrast in trimming and upper. Some stand out pairs include a white hi-top number in Pierre Hardy’s classic strapped silhouette with red suede and blue leather trimming; a pair of tonal grey leather sneaker is kept subdued down to the matching soles and enjoys a bright spotlight with stark white laces. Classic desert boots are recreated with a more sophisticated, tapered toe, thinner soles and fitting ankle, making the shoes quite worthy of suits on a casual day.

French shoe designer, Pierre Hardy, treats shoes as if they are canvases for reinterpretation of art. Hardy, who launched his eponymous collection in 1999, has an impressive portfolio under his belt– think some of fashion’s most desirable design houses such as Hermes and Balenciaga. Whilst Hardy may have first made an impression upon the fashion world with his classic open-toe stiletto, which has evolved into an indispensable part of a woman’s wardrobe, the designer’s venture into men’s footwear has also been extremely well received for his artistic tendencies.

Hardy’s inspiration seems to derive from a wider range of work– architectural elements, minimalist paintings and even stained glass by Gilbert & Georges (for his limited edition Nubuckorama released last year) have all been interpreted and incorporated into his classic hi-cut sneaker silhouette. The classic silhouette is a slim sneaker with a wrap around ankle strap and contrast piping to divide the shoes into panels. The latest Spring/Summer 2010 black and white release have departed a great distance since the colorful Nubuckorama sneaker. This time around, Pierre Hardy takes his design cues from paintings with an emphasis and play on depth perception and came up with a monochromatic number. The leather sneaker is a classic mix of black and white, as white leather upper is refined and streamlined with contrast black leather trimmings. For the first time, Hardy adopts black soles for his hi-cut sneaker, giving the sneaker a heavier, more grounded appearance. Striking yet easy to wear, this Spring/Summer 2010 release crafted in Portugal is now available for order online via Eliminator.

Parisian shoe designer, Pierre Hardy, is well known for the sneakers that are heavily infused with inspirations from the art world. For the fifth installment of his limited edition series, the designer draws from the beautiful abstractness in the stained glass aesthetics of a “Gilbert and George painting”. These sleek hi-top sneakers with a sophisticated slim silhouette are crafted from premium buttery soft nubuck leather. Taking on a bright palette arranged in minimalist color-block of pastel patches with black piping, the kicks are not just reminiscent of stained glass work, but also of the Hayworth II Mid created by Y-3 and MOMO, but in a simpler and more subdued manner. The concept of wearable art comes through in Pierre Hardy’s Fall/Winter 2009 Leather Hi-Top sneaker which features an optical illusionistic print that is part Victor Vasarely and part Goyard. The leather hi-top has a stacked cube print upper mixed in with white accents and gold trimming–and is very difficult to take one’s eyes off. Paris-based Pierre Hardy is no stranger to luxury footwear. The brand started out making shoes for design powerhouses such as Hermes, Dior and Balenciaga. Since it’s own inception in 1999, the brand had branched out into mens footwear and accessories in 2002.

This season for the brand’s collection, we spotted a pair of well-crafted leather hi top sneakers in a structured architectural style that is clean and stands out amongst others in a cool, nonchalant way. These leather sneakers are made mainly from a matt leather upper accented by a reflective panel. The panel stretches across the heels and onto the sides, shielding the lace hoops from view. The soles are kept minimal in white and there is no additional adornment or logos other than the one on the bottom of the soles.

These sneakers are the shoe embodiment of the sneaker loving boy who is all grown up but searching for something more sophisticated and suave. They are now available for purchase at Eliminator.
