When Nike Portland opened last Fall, one of the coolest things about the new spot was the display featuring the Air Jordan “Bulls Home” Collection. Featuring Air Jordans 1-2010, each pair was decked out in a white full-grain white leather upper alongside red outsoles, red lining, black laces and silver branding.

A sample pair of the Air Jordan XIV from the collection has recently popped up on ebay, so if you’re looking to add an ultra-rare pair of kicks to your collection, head on over to the listing and check it out.

Nike Portland continues to awe us with its impressive layouts and features. Along with its Bowerman Wall, a 12×7 foot media wall that displays a mosaic of 1,404 images and in-house NikeiD studio, the massive store is also home to the Air Jordan “Bulls Home” Collection.

Today we take a look at the entire Air Jordan I – 2010 promo run of Michael Jordan’s iconic signature series. Each pair is completed with a full grain leather upper, red accents and black laces, and take inspiration from the Chicago Bulls home game uniform which gives the sneakers an authentic look.

As Bulls fans and sneaker collectors worldwide might be drooling at this sight of this image, you should note that there is unfortunately no release date at this time. What may have appeared to be a sad day in Oregon on October 28, 2011 as NikeTown Portland closed its doors for good after 20 years, residents and visitors of the city can now look forward to new beginnings with the grand opening of Nike Portland.

The new 26,000-square-foot, museum-like, environmentally-friendly, LEED certifed, Nike Portland store will provide consumers with an all-inclusive “Brand Experience” and opportunity to learn more about Nike’s history, plus more. The store is unlike anything we’ve seen before with impressive fixtures such as The Bowerman Wall, a 12×7 foot media wall that displays a mosaic of 1,404 images and a hanging Jordan Jumpman statue. Home to a large selection of Nike product including hard-to-find items from Nike Sportswear, Jordan, Running, Basketball, Soccer and NIKEiD, all of the store’s offerings make for a must-see and visit for all out-of-towners.

As the grand opening event also featured appearances from Portland Trailblazers’ forward LaMarcus Aldridge and the release of the Doernbecher Freestyle VIII Collection, we can only expect more great things to take place at Nike Portland in the near future.

Whitewall Magazine recently conducted a special interview with Mark Parker, CEO of Nike Inc. for their Summer 2011 Design Issue. The interview took place at Nike HQ in Portland, Oregon, where Mark’s office resides. Here, we take a look at the rich culture and sneaker history inside the office and the true sentimental value it holds. Years of Nike memorabilia, samples, art, toys, and of course, sneakers surround and fill the room to almost, no end. It’s interesting to see what Mark has kept in his office all this time and what a privilege it must be to walk inside. Tomorrow the Portland Trailblazers will play their last game of the 2010-2011 season, yet another season gone. The Trailblazers are lucky enough to be the sixth seed in their Western Conference, in time since the NBA playoffs will start this up coming weekend. With that being said, new images of the Nike LeBron 8 V2 ‘Portland’ which was first seen a month back has surfaced. With a dominate black upper, and hints of red being used on the laces, swoosh and outsole, while hints of white can be seen throughout. From co-founder Alex Calderwood’s perspective, his hotel chain, the ever popular Ace Hotel, and his favorite footwear label, CONVERSE, shared many traits, one of which comfort, value, and style trump hype. Since its founding as a converted Seattle’s halfway house in 1999 to the most recent addition in New York City, the hotels have become a go-to haven for creative types, a familiar point of rendezvous in an unfamiliar city. A familiarity can also be found in the latest collaboration between Ace Hotel and CONVERSE, the Chuck Taylor All Star Bosey.

Part of the CONVERSE First String series, Ace Hotel located among CONVERSE’s extensive archive a few special models to become the reference points for a new addition to its hotel personnel uniform. Some traced back to the 1940s and as military standard issue basic training footwear. The result, the Chuck Taylor All Star Bosey. Its olive colored upper in waxed cotton is a hint of its military inspiration. Padded footbed and sockliner, along with toughen toe cap give the hotel staff ample protection against daily wear and tear. Finally, the gum rubber outsole and Bosey boot grommets serve as signatures of this special collaboration. In addition to Ace Hotel staff members, some 300 pairs have been set-aside for the consuming public. It bears some similarities to Nike Talaria and its ACG counterpart, Nike ACG Okwahn. Never the less, the Nike ACG Lunar MacLeay+ is a new design created from the ground up (no pun intended). A part of the new ACG line-up for Holiday 2010, the Lunar MacLeay, as its name suggested, features the new Nike Lunarlon cushioning technology. Its molded upper, along with textured toecaps and heel panels, further provide suffice support on the trails, like its namesake, the MacLeay Trail in Portland’s Forest Park. D-ring lacing harked back to its ACG outdoor heritage while its colorways of Ink and Bright Cactus definitely inherited from the Nike Sportswear lifestyle trait. Part of the Athletic Far East line from Nike Sportswear, the Nike ACG Lunar MacLeay+ is now available in very limited number at sneakersNstuff of Stockholm.

As with every year, the announcement of the Nike Doernbecher Freestyle Collection earlier this month, number 7 to be exact, brought numerous inquiries and requests (and to answer that question, no we don’t sell sneakers) from out readers.  One particular edition is the iconic Air Jordan III Retro, created by Cole Johanson from Portland, Oregon.  After he overcame Burkitt’s Lymphoma, a cancer of the lymphatic system, Johanson selected the AJ3 to be his canvas for the Doernbecher Freestyle Collection of this year.  Not only this will make the first AJ3 to be in this unique charitable project, the AJ3 also resonated among Jordan fans because of the many “first” the sneaker represented: the first of the Air Jordan franchise to have the visible Air Sole Unit, the cracked cement/elephant pattern, and the legendary Michael Jordan Jumpman insignia. Cole Johanson’s Air Jordan III (AJ3), along with the rest of the Nike Doernbecher Freestyle VII Collection, will be available at NikeTown and Nike online outlets in the next few weeks. 100% of the proceeds will go toward the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital and its foundation.  However, if you just can’t wait any longer, limited numbers are now available at MarqueeSole.
