Nike x Manny Pacquiao – Trainer 1 – Philippines Colorway

Manny Pacquiao will always have this under his belt– the first man to knock out England’s Ricky Hatton. Tonight, as Manny Pacquiao fights Miguel Cotto for the five-weight World Champion at the WBO World Welterweight Boxing Championships in Las Vegas.

On this note, as we had previously reported on the Nike Trainer 1 “Lights Out” Edition colorway that commemorated the pride of the Philippines, now a new Philippines colorway is available for those who didn’t get a chance to get their hands on the previous kicks. Still working on the same silhouette, the Nike Trainer 1 (inspired by the Air Trainer 1 but with superior multidimensional traction and mobility) is remade in red, white and blue, the colors of its national flag. The upper also features the graphics of a star and the tongue tags are based off the ones previously seen on the Lights Out colorway. Sold out on NikeStore online, the kicks are still available at selected Nike retailers, so those who are looking to grab these kicks can do a little digging.

Nike Air Trainer 1 “Under the Hood”

Nike recently released a very special Air Trainer 1 in commemoration of Manny Pacquiao’s “Lights Out” performance in the boxing ring against Ricky Hatton. Now, the brand has prepared a second Nike Air Trainer 1 pictured here, in a rather “American” red/white/blue colorway. Much like the “Lights Out” pair, there are graphics that run through the mid panels and heel of this Nike Air Trainer 1, while slight yellow accents exist on places such as the stitching and around the patented Nike swoosh. This shoe is being released as part of the “Under the Hood” event that aims to give followers a closer look at the man behind the boxing gloves and shorts, as he prepares to set a record by aiming for his 7th title, each in 7 different weight classes. 2, 5 and 9 might be Manny Pacquiao’s lucky numbers. On May (5) second (2) of this year (oh 9), Pacquiao became the first man to knock out England’s Ricky Hatton. He did it in 2 minutes, 59 seconds. If there were only 259 or 529 of these amazing Nike Trainer 1s, we’d understand, but instead we find the numbers under a panel of translucent outsole. Those panels are among the scant few details on these kicks that aren’t black, grey or neon green. In the right light, the glow in the dark grey elements shift to that same shade of green. The ‘Lights Out’ theme is a perfect way to commemorate the Philippines’ native son in grand fashion, and previously we thought they’d only be released there. As it turns out, there’s going to be a release tomorrow, Friday, September 25th at a smaller-than-Tier-Zero list of US retailers.

Here we look at the all new Lights Out version of Nike Manny Pacquiao Trainer 1 that packs a heavy blow to any enthusiast. Not only have they come up with the glow in the dark Trainer 1 but with it is a matching “Pacman Knows” tee with glow in the dark technology too. The Lights Out is a play on words with the glow in the dark technology as well as the performance he delivered during the May victory over Ricky Hatton.

As for the design of the shoes, it features contrast stitching and shoe laces over black upper in mesh and leather. Interestingly the tongue tag is asymetric with left side being white with gold details while the right side is glod with white details and both proudly have MP embroidered in red and blue to reflect the Philippines flag. The shoes are packaged in black box with intricate design and wrapped in gold foil printed paper. Nike Air Trainer 1 “Lights Out”

Following a win over Oscar De La Hoya and before fighting Ricky Hatton, Manny Pacquiao was honored with the creation of a pair of gold/red/white Nike Air Trainer 1’s. 100 pairs of the 200 created were distributed to friends and family of the Filipino boxer, while the other 100 went on sale at places like Las Vegas’ Undefeated shop. Now, a follow-up Air Trainer 1 dubbed the “Lights Out” pair will be released by Nike next Friday, September 25th- but only at the Nike flagship spot in Fort Bonifacio, Philippines. These glow-in-the-dark kix sport a predominantly black upper with slight grey and green accents and are also very limited- as only one pair per person will be allowed. How bad do YOU want these? We’re giving you about a week to come up with your master plan and snag a pair of these historical kicks that were aptly nicknamed after Manny Pacquiao’s dismantling of Ricky Hatton last May 2nd, 2009.

Nike’s best known boxer and perhaps the world’s most popular boxer right now, Manny Pacquiao, has teamed up with the Beaverton, Oregon based sneaker company for a special shoe that will be released in limited quantities at a handful of retailers in the United States prior to his May 2nd fight with Ricky Hatton. The shoe is the newly designer, Nike Air Trainer 1, which is rumored to have been designed by Tinker Hatfield. This colorway of the Air Trainer 1 which features a Manny Pacquiao logo on the heel of the shoe is limited to 200 pairs worldwide with a hundred being given to Manny and his friends and family, the other hundred will be released at Niketown San Francisco, Niketown Las Vegas, UNDFTD Las Vegas, and Fatlace in San Francisco. via Wongs Bait Shop // Niketalk
